Spring Fantasy

Oil on Stretched Canvas

16 inches by 10 inches

Framed to 21 inches by 15 inches

My grandfather, on my mother’s side, picked up an old porcelain plate with this scene on it at a rummage sale. He always kept it by his bedside. For years, he asked me to do a painting of the scene for him. Finally, I completed the work just months before he passed away at age 84. At that time, Alex and I were engaged to be married. She became, as I was, very close to my grandfather and we were both saddened that he wouldn’t be with us on our wedding day. I passed this work along to Alex as a token of our love for each other and our mutual love for my grandfather.

Today, the painting is hanging in our bedroom and the original plate rests in our curio cabinet.
