In the first few years on our farm, we planted thousands of bare-root seedlings on our property and around our old Victorian farmhouse. Predominantly white spruce, as well as blue spruce, white pine, red pine, black walnut, and of course, white birch. Our house is surrounded by white birch and blue spruce, which have now transformed from being miniature obstacles to mowing the grass to a budding forest.

This work was a continuation of my fascination of the white birch and working with pastels.
