Summer Bluebirds

Oil on Stretched Canvas

6 inches by 18 inches

Notwithstanding never having seen one, I’ve always admired bluebirds. Having heard that there were bluebirds in our area, for years I’ve kept my eye out to spotting one, with no success. Then, several years ago, I spotted a young robin perched on a post supporting our grape vines. As it turned slightly, the sunlight lit up its blue plumage. Sharing a common orange breast, it appears that I’ve been more than likely mistaking bluebirds as juvenile robins. To my delight, I’ve spotted many bluebirds since.
