Majestic Maple

IN PROGRESS

The focus of this work is a closer view of the largest sugar maple in the maple stand depicted in Majestic Maples. I often go sit under that tree to meditate and reflect. The grass under the tree is unique – a thick growth of thin, yet long flattened blades, with the feel of silk. Under the canopy of this maple, I find myself embraced by a sense peace and security.

On a recent cold and damp fall day, I set out for the maple. Even though there was a misty rain over the dreary landscape, the maple’s brilliance stood out. However, not wanting to get all wet and cold, I got my camera, took some shots, and went back into the house to plan out this work.

As with all my works in progress, you’ll be able to follow their progression to completion. The image above shows the latest state of the work, while the images below follow the work from beginning to end.
